A cozy and creative weekend

This weekend was a refreshing mix of relaxation, delicious indulgence, and creative bonding with friends. Here’s a glimpse into how it unfolded:

I woke up with a lingering headache from the day before, so the morning started a little slow. For breakfast, we tried shokupan from Bäckerei Bulle in Düsseldorf. It was soft, fluffy, and while it wasn’t the best we’ve had, we were surprised and happy that a German Bäckerei is making it. It was bio and a little bit expensive, but definitely worth trying.

Later in the morning, I decided to cook some adzuki beans to make anko (sweet red bean paste). I wanted to prepare ahead for my event the next weekend, so this was a good start.

In the afternoon, we went bouldering. It felt great to move after a lazy start, and I also felt I was improving as I could do some intermediate levels halfway. By the time we got home around 6 PM, I was ready for a proper rest. The day ended on a high note when we treated ourselves to dim sum at our favorite restaurant at 8 PM. Comfort food is truly the best remedy.

With my boyfriend away on a business trip, I had plans to spend the day with friends. We had one of our occasional art meetups, and this time, the theme was candle painting! It was not just a day of art but also filled with girl talk, which made it even more special. It was so much fun experimenting with different designs, and everyone’s creations turned out so cute.

I also picked up cakes from The Alley – matcha and mango coconut. Both were absolutely delightful. The rich matcha paired beautifully with its subtle sweetness, while the mango coconut was light, fruity, and creamy. We also had English tea with it, which made the experience even better. They added a sweet touch to an already wonderful day.
